INTEGRATED PSYCHIATRY

INTEGRATIVE PSYCHIATRY

Integrative psychiatry is a whole-body approach to treating psychiatric conditions like depression, anxiety, insomnia or ADHD. This approach identifies the root causes of mental illness in order to treat and restore health of the body and brain.

Through an integrative approach, Shaindel’s goal is to move beyond symptom management and address the root causes of mental illness. The root causes are unique to each patient, and may be genetic, biochemical, nutritional, hormonal or environmental. Integrative psychiatry targets these root causes, along with the underlying chemistry affecting brain and behavior, to promote healing and recovery.

Initial assessment includes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with relevant blood work. Treatment plans address contributing factors that include lifestyle interventions, nutritional change and supplementation, as well as medication management when indicated.  At INSIYT we offer research-backed interventions and tools to identify key nutritional deficiencies, bridge the gap between biology and psychology, and facilitate real, lasting recovery.

Conventional psychiatry relies heavily upon pharmaceuticals to reduce the symptoms of mental illness. It assumes there is a neurotransmitter imbalance and that medication will alleviate symptoms. However, there are far more factors that influence mental health than just neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin.

At INSIYT we seek to affect brain chemistry and overall health through adjunctive therapies such as Mindfulness, Neurofeedback, Yogatherapy, Therapeutic Touch and Brainspotting techniques. Clients are encouraged to engage in individual psychotherapy to further facilitate healing.
